The location of Rome
Rome is located in Italy on the Italian Peninsula. It is shaped like a boot and it sticks out from southern Europe into the Mediterranean Sea. A mountain range called the Apennines extends along the length of the Italian Peninsula. Ash that erupted from volcanoes in the Apennines enriched the soil. It made the land arable, or land that is food for growing crops, is plentiful in this region.
